Classification of Blogs

There are many different types of blogs that discuss a plenty of issues. There are several ways of classifying blogs. Blogging is certainly making waves to the readers to relate to their topic of interest.

According to Simon, in A Taxanomy of Blogs (2008), blogs can be classified as Pamphleteering ( a grand old tradition blog or also called political blog), Digest, (a group or commercial organisation that dynamically pushes their fairly didactic fashion, Advocacy blogs ( a group or organisation that dynamically pushes their fairly didactic fashion, Diary (personal blogs), Mechanics blogs, Exhibition (mostly created by artists or writers), and News blog (important for journalism)

In my opinion, the classification of blogs is actually according to the topic and style of writing. Each particular blogs has their own target audience where the functionality is to attract a certain demographic audience. For instance, teenager would likely to flock a fashion blogs.

The collection of blogs is giving rise to a large body of research about the trend and behaviour of audiences ( Mishne and Rijke). I find that culture and knowledge of individual provide the potential behaviour in the way of blogging.

Wikipedia (2008) categories blogs according to several types, which are corporate, genre, media type, device and personal. Here are some examples of blogs:
