Blogging Communities: Methods & Structures

Blogsphere or blogging communities is the collective community of all blogs.A blogging communities basically exist in Internet definition which people may be seen as interconnected and socially networked ( Winn, 2009).

There is many ways to define blogging community. Thus, most of people assume that blogging communities occur in Cyberspace or Internet online (Anthony, 2009). Blogging communities have their own sense of identity and belonging. Blogging activities are welcoming to anyone who is interested in finding out more and the blogger can connect with each other easily.

White (2006) describes the technological act of joining: whereby people all over the world who share the same interest, find each other, exchange knowledge and also online conversation which is important for learning or work purposes.

Types of blogging communities

A several types of blogging communities are equal vital as the Internet itself. communities are most likely be connected with their favourite subject matter or themes. For instance, some forms of blogging communities are based on advertising which Nuffnang is the best example. Nuffnang is a global blog communities which is based in Malaysia. This blog allows the advertisers to serve video or graphics based advertisement onto blogs.

Moreover, other forms of blogging communities are educational (educationmalaysia.blogspot). This blog is an example of educational blog in Malaysia which allows communities to express their comments and opinions about educational system in Malaysia itself.

Hence, another example of Malaysia blogging communities is the Lowyat.net Forum, a local online community for those who interested in technology and trading.

How to Build a Blog Community?

1. Clear objectives and target audience ( Somer, 2009).

2. Retain your visitors (Somer, 2009).

3. Interacting with bloggers in the comment session (Rowse, 2009)

4. Provide and encourage memberships-easy way for readers to subscribe
to your blog(Rowse, 2009)

5. Posting topic that close to community and having reader centric post
( Rowse, 2009)

6. Author itself need to be an active participant in the community and
contribute often (Rowse, 2009)







An example of famous blogging communities in Malaysia is the blog of our former Malaysian Prime Minister, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, also known as Che Det( http://chedet.co.cc/chedetblog/). This community blog is based on political favors. This blogging communities is for all the citizens of Malaysia who interested in political environment in Malaysia by sharing their thoughts and values. They also can state the comments regarding the governmental issues which close to them with Tun Mahathir via comments and votes. The related video also included in this blog as an additional sources to readers.
